It’s A Holly Cholly Giveaway With Chobani

Hey Hey… it’s time for a fun giveaway =)

Before we get started with the details I have a funny kid story to share.  About 100 funny things happen at my house each day between my 3 rugrats… but what my brain can remember is another story.

On Friday my son ate more sugar than usual… between his class Christmas party and dinner (which involved soft serve w/ caramel syrup as a topping) his sugar intake exceeded what he normally would consume in about a month.

On Saturday morning he came out of the bathroom with a puzzled look on his face and said, “I thought my poop would smell good since I ate so much sugar.”

Totally logical right =)

Now for the Cho-giveaway…

First a little Q and A for ya…

Q.  How is Greek yogurt different from regular yogurt?

A.  The “Greek” in Greek yogurt indicates the process of how it is made, not where the yogurt comes from… in other words it doesn’t mean that it’s made in Greece (duh).  The process of transforming yogurt into Greek yogurt involves removing the excess liquid from yogurt resulting in a thick texture and high protein content.  Chobani uses a unique straining technique that removes excess liquid and leaves the whey protein intact.

8 ounces of plain non-fat Chobani yogurt has 23 grams of protein!  That’s more than 3 ounces of chicken…  good news for Mr. Chicken if you start eating more Greek yogurt.  Compare that to the Yoplait low-fat yogurts — an 8 ounce container typically has between 6 to 7 grams of protein.  That’s more than triple the protein and a satisfied belly.

The ingredient list on Chobani non-fat plain yogurt is simple:

Cultured pasteurized non-fat milk, live active cultures…  that is it! Beautifully simple.

Chobani is all natural and contains NO artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, sweeteners, antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones.

Here’s how you can get crazy with the plain non-fat Chobani yogurt, my favorite flavor — which I guess really isn’t a flavor but I don’t like most sugar-packed flavored yogurts.

Coconut cake batter yogurt

…which by the way is fabulous mixed with trail mix!

Banana cream yogurt

Chocolate avocado pudding

And of course I can’t leave out this favorite of mine…

High protein peanut yogurt

Chobani is going to send one lucky HS reader three 32oz containers: 0% Plain, 2% Plain, and 0% Vanilla!!  The giveaway is open to Canadian readers but at this time Chobani can only offer the three 32oz containers of the 0% Plain… actually I would rather get the plain but that’s just me =)

I love the vanilla! I’m trying to eat less dairy and eventually go vegan, but if I won, the people in my household would be content.

  2. I really want to try the plain )% and 2% side-by-side. I haven’t noticed a big difference, but always buy them separately.

P.S. My favorite way to eat it is with peanut flour! :)

  3. Lauren says:

Question, I can’t recall if Chobani is organic, is it? Great explanation of Greek yogurts vrs regular, 3x the protein never thought in those terms. Sugary poop, love it. Love even more that rugrat realized he had had a lot of sugar.

    • I had the same question. I copied this statement off of their website…
“While Chobani Greek Yogurt isn’t organic, we follow many organic production practices: Our products are free of antibiotics and synthetic growth hormones (no rBST or rGBH). Many of the local dairy farms that we get our milk from keep their cows in free-range conditions… to us it’s more important to support local farmers than to be labeled organic. We choose to work with a dairy co-op that sources the milk we use in Chobani from local-area farms as opposed to having organic milk shipped to us from farther away.”

Maybe one day they will switch to organic… in my opinion I think organic is more important than local. I think it’s great to support local farmers but not if they’re using chemicals on their crops or in the feed of their livestock.
