Raw Cookie Dough You Can Eat!

Ok… maybe I’m having too much fun with this–maybe it’s not as great of an idea as I think it is–but I think this cookie dough is fabulous and you need to try it!

It might not  be “real” cookie dough but who’s the boss of what makes up cookie dough?  This version looks like typical cookie dough, tastes yummy, and you don’t have to worry about getting salmonella.

Plus it’s gluten-free and vegan.

Raw Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

1/2 small banana
1 tsp. peanut butter
2 Tbsp. coconut flour (you may need more if you use a large banana)
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
Stevia to taste (I used NuNaturals vanilla stevia, 5 drops) – sweetener is optional as the banana may provide enough sweetness for you =)
1 Tbsp. vegan chocolate chips

Mash all ingredients together until the mixture resembles cookie dough.

Add chocolate chips and roll into a ball.

So much fun to look at and to eat :)   Yummy yummy in ma belly!

You can do all kinds of different cookie dough concoctions…

Chocolate Chip Flax Cookie Dough

1/2 small banana
  1 tsp. peanut butter
1 Tbsp. coconut flour (you may need more if you use a large banana)
1 Tbsp. Flax Meal
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 Tbsp. vegan chocolate chips
Stevia to taste (I used NuNaturals vanilla stevia, 5 drops)

Of course I had to give my chia seeds some love in this FROZEN cookie dough…

Loved it frozen!!

Frozen Chocolate Chip Chia Cookie Dough

1/2 small banana
  1 tsp. peanut butter
2 Tbsp. coconut flour (you may need more if you use a large banana)
2 tsp. chia seeds
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 Tbsp. vegan chocolate chips
Stevia to taste (I used NuNaturals vanilla stevia, 5 drops)

Rice Krispy Crumble Covered Cookie Dough

Rice Krispy Crumble Cookie Dough

1/2 small banana
  1 tsp. peanut butter
2 Tbsp. coconut flour (you may need more if you use a large banana)
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 Tbsp. vegan chocolate chips
Stevia to taste (I used NuNaturals vanilla stevia, 5 drops)
2 Tbsp. Rice Krispy Treat Crumbles (see recipe below)

Mash all ingredients (except rice krispy crumbles) together until the mixture resembles cookie dough.  Roll into a ball.

Roll the cookie dough in the rice krispy crumbles.

Rice Krispy PB Crumbles

(This makes a large batch so you can save some for later)

1 cup brown rice crisps
1/8 cup peanut butter
1/8 cup coconut flour
3 dates, pitted

Simply mash all ingredients together by hand until you form little crumbles.

These crumbles are aaamazing!  Especially with the cookie dough!

How much fun is this cookie dough?  I can imagine little cookie dough balls on top of this almond milk freeze.

Yesterday I told you that I would share some of my favorite parts of Wooden’s book as I read it.  The part that stuck out most to me today was reading about the “two sets of threes” rules that his father had for how he felt his boys should conduct their lives.  The first set was about honesty: never lie, never cheat, never steal.  The second set of threes dealt with adversity: don’t whine, don’t complain, don’t make excuses.

When I can get my boys to follow the second set of threes I’ll be golden =)

8/29/11 – Nothing is stronger than gentleness

8/30/11 – Two sets of threes (never lie, never cheat, never steal — don’t whine, don’t complain, don’t make excuses)

  1. I need to get my hands on some coconut flour so I can make these babies as soon as possible! The chocolate chip cookie one looks like my cup of tea, and it seems like it would be a lot more justifiable for me to eat a huge container of your recipe rather than a huge container of REAL cookie dough (which I may or may not have done once or twice… ;) )

  2. ALL that I needed is the title of ths post to instantly give my excited butterflies in my stomach.

  3. Those all look SO incredible!!! Can you find coconut flour anywhere?

I MUST make these ASAP. I love how simple they are!

  6. Definitely want to make some of this cookie dough-the frozen version looks extra yummy! Love the 2 sets of threes, and yes, my kids are good about the first set, but could use a little extra practice with the second :-)

Oh my gosh I love cookie dough!! And you have so many different varieties..I think I am going to stop reading here for the day as I feel I have hit the jackpot!!! :)

    Have a great day!

  8. I love raw cookie dough! I haven’t tried it with banana, that sounds so good! I also love to do raw brownies with dates, yum!!!

  9. Wow, these look to die for. I just love raw cookie dough! That is always my go to ice cream of choice. I need to make this recipe! Yum!

Hi Lisa, at the risk of sounding like an inappropriate (albeit funny( SNL skit, these balls look fantastic. (I’m so childish!) But I’m not kidding that these look amazing. I MUST find some coconut flour and get using it!! Have a wonderful Tuesday.

  11. Oh no you didn’t with this post! Everything about it is fantastic! :) I have seen so much coconut flour being used all over the blog world, I must get some!

  13. i have yet to work with coconut flour but these little cookie bites look healthy and delicious!!! :D

I have a cookie dough obsession at the moment. A big one. A big one that has me almost inhaling raw cookie dough that I got from a health food store that I work by. I literally eat one bite and then cannot stop.

So imagine how happy I was to see a raw cookie dough recipe that looks so yummy that doesn’t have butter or lots of added sugar. Thank you so much for posting this! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I can’t wait to try this but I have a question. I have whole wheat flour at the moment. Can I use that in this recipe? Or is the coconut flour significant to the raw cookie dough recipe template?

    Thanks again!

    -Kimberli

    • Coconut flour is kind of “magical” being that it absorbs so much liquid and really does have a “cookie dough-like” texture when combined with mashed banana.
I don’t think using wheat flour would have the same result but I haven’t tried it so I can’t say for sure =)

      • Kimberli says:

Thanks for the explanation! I am going to try the whole wheat first to see what it turns out like and if it isn’t so succesfull than I will pick up some coconut flour from one of my favorite stores. A local health food place called Sprouts.

        • Please let me know how they turn out!! =)

          • Kimberli says:

I shall! I just hope I can get around to it soon.

          • Kimberli says:

I tried this recipe out with the whole wheat flour and whole wheat flower does not have the same ability as coconut flour! LOL! It turned out very dough like but not cookie dough like and I actually got a picture with my phone if you are curious to see. I needed more than 2tbsp of whole wheat flour and it just never absorbed like your picture did. Next time I head to my local health store Sprouts I am picking up some coconut flour! I can’t wait to try the real recipe now because the one I did had good taste but not the cookie dough like texture.

        • Oh no… I figured that whole wheat flour wouldn’t have the same effect. Coconut flour is truly amazing!!

          • Kimberli says:

No it didn’t but it was still fun. A good lesson in food too! I am so inexperienced in the kitchen but this taught me a thing or two.

I even tried it a second time the next night with less banana and more flour. Still came out very dough-y and my boyfriend suggested baking it. It came out like a little blob loaf of bread and tasted good! Not amazing but good. And all I used was very simple ingredients: peanut butter, whole wheat flour and mashed banana. The only added sugar was in the peanut butter brand.

        • Amazing what you can make w/ so few ingredients. I did the same with peanut flour + bananas and it turned out yummy although it was much more doughy than the coconut flour!!

          • Kimberli says:

Simple and pure things are amazing!

I also stopped by Sprouts today and got the coconut flour. It’s raw too with 32% of daily fiber in one serving. I am going to try the raw cookie dough recipe tonight!

  17. Jenni says:

These look great! One question… do you think its possible to sub out the banana for another fruit? I don’t do so well with bananas, could one use say a pear instead? (This question refers to the smoothies made with frozen banana as well… could I use frozen pears?)

    • I think the best substitutions for banana would be applesauce or pumpkin. Pumpkin cookie dough balls are fabulous… I plan to do a post on in now that it’s Fall =)
Frozen pears sound good in a smoothie!
I also use frozen avocado chunks in smoothies mmmm!!

      • Jenni says:

Great Ideas! Thanks I will definitely try those out… I tried the frozen pears in a smoothie using coconut milk ( I added some goodies including hemp protein, chia and flax of course) and it was delicious! … I will try and use applesauce for the cookie dough tomorrow :) . Avocado in smoothies? Brilliant!

  18. Aaron Lazare says:

Sounds delicious. Perhaps a silly questions but, is
It possible to actually bake these? If so, what
    Steps do you recommend?

    Thanks again!

  19. Sue says:

These look really good! My kids always wanted to eat raw cookie dough. I’d like to try it. Hope I can find the coconut flour. I hadn’t heard of it before. Would imported food shops carry it as well? We have quite a few stores here that carry Indian and Chinese ingredients. Could rice flour work? I’ve seen that here. Not living in the states, so finding ingredients can be difficult. Shipping and duty not much fun either.
